Charles Spencer has just written generously about Endless Trip in his arts column in The Daily Telegraph, saying it is 'as close to heaven as most pop anoraks like me are likely to get'. And this a man who knows his rock and roll: aged 12 in October 1967, he went to a benefit for Release in the Saville Theatre, compered by Joe Boyd and featuring Pink Floyd, Fairport Convention, Tomorrow, The Incredible String Band and Tim Rose. Here's the article:
This blog is a companion to FLASHBACK magazine, which I edit, and to my GALACTIC RAMBLE and ENDLESS TRIP books. All of these cover the 60s and 70s UK and US music scenes in detail. You can email me at flashbackmag@gmail.com.

ENDLESS TRIP in Ptolemaic Terrascope
Endless Trip has just been generously reviewed in Ptolemaic Terrascope, with Jeff Penczak naming it 'my early candidate for music book of the year'. He goes on to write: ‘You’ll laugh, cry and gnash your teeth over the opinions of Richard Morton Jack’s co-writers, whether they’re trashing one of your most cherished albums or praising that worthless piece of shit you sold every time it found its way back into your record collection.’ He concludes that ‘It’s a fascinating, exceptionally well-researched project that will please musicologists and the casual fan alike.’

ENDLESS TRIP in Record Collector
The five-star review below appears in the current issue of Record Collector, and calls Endless Trip 'knowledgeable', 'perceptive' and 'thought-provoking', concluding that it's 'a splendid tome' and 'a one-way ticket to essentialdom'. Much obliged!

Endless Trip in The Wire
Endless Trip is warmly reviewed in the current (March 2011) issue of The Wire. The review (below) says in part that 'those who think they already know about everything covered in Endless Trip will find themselves rediscovering their record collection through fresh ears - while less experienced heads will be sent on a thrilling (and possibly wallet-draining) voyage of musical discovery'. Right on!

Endless Trip
My new book, ENDLESS TRIP, is published by Foxcote Books at the end of November. It's a companion volume to GALACTIC RAMBLE (2009), and covers the US and Canadian scene from 1965 to 1974. 800 pages long and containing around a million words, it has been written by a team of expert enthusiasts whose knowledge covers practically every aspect of pop. Their reviews are juxtaposed with masses of rare pictures and reviews from vintage and rare US and Canadian music publications, so you can get perspectives from both ends of the time and space continuum.
As well as the reviews, there's an intro from the great Lenny Kaye, authors' recommendations, lots of top 10 lists and three sections of colour plates showing rare LP sleeves. GALACTIC RAMBLE was warmly reviewed in both the music press and national newspapers, and was a #1 rock & pop bestseller on Amazon. I hope that ENDLESS TRIP will get a similar reception, and that if you buy a copy you'll comment on it here. The RRP is 40 GBP, and you can reserve a copy by emailing info@foxcotebooks.com .
