Endless Trip

My new book, ENDLESS TRIP, is published by Foxcote Books at the end of November. It's a companion volume to GALACTIC RAMBLE (2009), and covers the US and Canadian scene from 1965 to 1974. 800 pages long and containing around a million words, it has been written by a team of expert enthusiasts whose knowledge covers practically every aspect of pop. Their reviews are juxtaposed with masses of rare pictures and reviews from vintage and rare US and Canadian music publications, so you can get perspectives from both ends of the time and space continuum.

As well as the reviews, there's an intro from the great Lenny Kaye, authors' recommendations, lots of top 10 lists and three sections of colour plates showing rare LP sleeves. GALACTIC RAMBLE was warmly reviewed in both the music press and national newspapers, and was a #1 rock & pop bestseller on Amazon. I hope that ENDLESS TRIP will get a similar reception, and that if you buy a copy you'll comment on it here. The RRP is 40 GBP, and you can reserve a copy by emailing info@foxcotebooks.com .

  5. I would just like to thank RMJ and the crew for an absolutely amazing book! I've owned it for 4-5 months now and, this might sound like have no life, I still read it daily. It's perfect in every aspect, reviews are most of the time spot on and both well-written and entertaining. I love the fact that vintage reviews are there as well, as they often give a completely different outlook on albums. Recommendations and top lists are very helpful pointers if you need a fix of "new" music. Definitely one of the best music books I own, and I own a lot of them. Here's hoping you'll reprint "Galactic Ramble" in the near future as I missed it the first time around...

Oh, and thanks for a brilliant blog, Richard!

  8. Thanks, I have been looking for a long time. The ones I do see are too high priced. Please let me know if you know of one to buy reasonably.

  10. Hi Richard, any idea if either book will be reprinted in the near future? Just looking at a second hand copy of Galactic but rather pricy and just wanted to check before pulling the rigger!±

    cheers

  11. Hi Andrew, no plans to reprint Endless Trip as it stands, but I might revise it at some stage. I am slowly revising Galactic Ramble at the moment, and urge you not to pay more than the cover price for the first edition unless you're really desperate! I hope to get the second edition out next year. Thanks.

  14. Hi Richard. Just wondering if you have an update on the Galactic Ramble revised edition? Really looking to purchase a copy but can't pay what folks are asking for first edition. Same for Endless trip. Thanks for your time. Tony

  16. Hello,
I am a little confused on the Psychedelia book. I see many versions of this. There is one that says from 66-72. Is this different from the 66-70 one? Thanks!

  18. I agree and will undersign all points. It's hard to get any copy right now and when it appears it is too expensive. Please for a reprint :)

  19. Please reprint The Endless Trip and Galactic Ramble.
They are very expensive and hard to find on the used market.
Now there is such a big vinyl resurgence, it would be the perfect time for a reprint.
